Fundraising for Rother CAB

Rother District Citizens Advice Bureau receives a grant from Rother District Council to maintain our core services. We have also received grants from the Big Lottery Fund and the Community Fund.

As well as formal grants, we are also supported by the Friends of Rother District CAB, itself a Charity Registered No. 1059126.

You can find out more about funding from our annual report, available on request.

As a charity, the bureau relies on grants and donations to maintain our core activity and implement new projects. While the Rother District Council funds our core work, we have new projects that also require funding:

  • The Citizens Connect is the national CAB project to get all bureaux on-line. To enable the bureau to deliver the kind of modern service needed today we need help in purchasing IT equipment and training bureau staff to use it.
  • We always need money for equipment in general or for our premises, for example, to improve access for people with disabilities.
  • If you are upgrading office equipment, we may be able to make use of your old equipment.
  • Sponsorship money for items such as leaflets, posters and our annual report could help improve the promotion of our services to the local community.
  • Make us the Charity of the Year at your company. Donations from raffles or contests, no matter how big or small, are always welcome.
  • If you are a company do you have staff that you could second or encourage to volunteer some time to provide mentoring skills to the bureau?

Friends of Rother CAB

fundraisers at work

The Friends organisation was formed in 1996 as a Charity with the express role of raising funds to support the work of our local Citizens Advice Bureau and therefore enhance the benefits that the Bureau provides to the citizens of Bexhill and rural Rother.

It was decided that funds raised through the work of its active committee and supporters would be used for the purchase and replacement of essential equipment needed by the Bureau at its main office at Bank Chambers, Buckhurst Road, Bexhill and for outreach and other projects, the cost of which might not be fully met by Local Authority and other Public Sector funding.

Thanks, in part, to the support of the Friends, the Bureau has been able to cover the cost of:

  • introducing a fully networked, computerised advice and record keeping system, linked to the Citizens Advice head office,
  • carrying out essential staff training,
  • office moving costs, and
  • matching funding for several other grant assisted projects.

We wish to continue this practice and with the help of the public who support the Friends fundraising Activities, and by signing up more individual members, we can do so.

Your donations, however modest, will be very gratefully received and can be "gift aided" to increase their value if you are a taxpayer.
