Accessibility
This is the accessibility statement for www.rotherdistrictcab.org.uk, the website for the Rother District Citizens Advice Bureau.
Access keys
Most web browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the web site. This can help to make it easier for keyboard users to navigate around the site without the need for a mouse. This website supports the use of access keys.
To use these access keys hold down the ALT key (PC) or CONTROL key (Apple) and then press one of the keys shown below. In some browsers you may also have to press the ENTER key to confirm your choice.
If you are using the Opera browser (version 7+), you will need to switch into access-key mode first by pressing the Shift+Esc keys together. This will display a list of the available access keys. You can then press the appropriate access key to activate the link. To exit access-key mode, press Shift+Esc again. Access-key mode will automatically exit as soon as you press an access key, or load another page.
All the main navigation links on this site have been designated a number or letter key on the keyboard as follows :
- Access Key s - Skip Navigation
- Access Key 0 - Accessibility and Access Key Details
- Access Key 1 - Home Page
- Access Key 2 - About Rother CAB
- Access Key 3 - Contact Rother CAB
- Access Key 4 - Advice

Standards: Web Code and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines
All pages on this site validate at a minimum as XHTML 1.0 Transitional . All pages have been checked against the standard. The CSS used validates as valid CSS against the W3C standard.
All pages on this site use structured semantic markup. H2 tags are used for main page titles, H3 and H4 tags for subtitles and H5 tags for the horizontal navigation a the bottom of content on each page. For example, on this page, if you are using the JAWS text browser, users can skip to the next section within the accessibility statement by pressing ALT+INSERT+3.
Site Navigation
At the top of each page there is a Skip To Main Content link (access key (s)) to enable people using a screen reader to skip the left-hand navigation elements and go directly to the main content of a web page. Navigation elements are consistently used throughout the site, with for visual browsers, both a left hand block and bottom global navigation bars.
Design and Layout for Screen and print
The design of this site uses:
- cascading style sheets for visual layout and print layout.
- relative sizing for fonts and layout, compatible with the user-specified "text size" option in visual browsers.
If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets, or if you choose to disable styles in your browser, the content of each page is still readable and in order.
Links
Links are written to make sense out of context and each one has a title attribute. The title text describes the link in more detail to those using a visual browser. Place your mouse pointer over a link and a box containing the text will appear.
Images
All content images used in this site include descriptive ALT attributes. The site does not rely solely on images to convey information and the site can be navigated with images turned off in the browser.
